Controls
The four things we design in before anything else.
These are not features added at the end of a project. They determine the architecture, so they are decided at the start.
Scope reduction
Card data is tokenised at the earliest possible point so that raw PAN stays out of your application, your logs and your backups wherever the processor supports it.
PHI minimisation
Payment flows rarely need clinical detail. We carry the minimum identifiers required to reconcile, and keep PHI out of the payment path where the design allows.
Traceability
Every transaction, retry and adjustment is attributable — who or what initiated it, when, and against which source record. Reconciliation disputes stop being arguments.
Idempotency
Networks fail mid-request. Payment operations are designed so that a retry cannot double-charge a patient or double-post a remittance.
Engage Systems is an engineering partner, not a payment processor, money transmitter or bank. Funds are handled by your licensed processor and banking partners; we build and operate the software that instructs and reconciles them.
